It's Time to Elect Our 2025–2026 Site-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Parent Members!

In Kentucky, each school is led by a council composed of the principal, elected teachers, and elected parents who make many of the most important decisions about how our school operates. The council provides an opportunity to get involved and help improve the learning experience for all our students.

Parent members of the council are elected by parents, receive six hours of training, and serve one-year terms. It is now time to choose our parent members for 2025–2026.

Nominations are due no later than April 22, 2025.

Voting will take place electronically from April 27 to April 30, 2025.

Please plan to participate and watch for the election email notice at the end of April.

Results will be announced on the school website and/or social media after May 12, 2025.

Your Statement: Please provide a statement of 200 words we can publish for all parents. You can include who you are, your children, your work in the school and why you are seeking a council seat. 

To serve on the council, you must meet each of the criteria listed below. Please check all that apply: 

· My child will attend Paul Laurence Dunbar High School during 2025 -2026. 

· I am my child’s parent, stepparent, or foster parent (or I am the child’s legal guardian, and the child lives with me). 

· I am not an employee of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. 

· I do not work at the local school district’s central office. 

·I am not the husband, wife, mother, father, sister, brother, son, or daughter of any employee of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. 

· I am not the husband, wife, mother, father, sister, brother, son, or daughter of anyone who works at the local school district’s central office. 

· I am not a member of the local board of education, and neither is my spouse. 

All Student Base Decision Making council members must complete a background check, and 6 hours of training, if elected.
