Choir and Orchestra Earn Top Marks at KMEA!

Choir and Orchestra Earn Top Marks at KMEA!

Dunbar’s music students continue to set the standard for excellence, and this past week was no exception.

Shoutout to our PLD Choir students who earned Distinguished ratings at the KMEA Solo & Ensemble Assessment. Congratulations to Allison Burke, Hunter Foster, LJ McMahon, Zoe Powell, Sahila Rajagopalan, and Levi Steely on their outstanding solo vocal performances—we are proud of you all.

A huge congratulations as well to our PLD Chamber Choir and Concert Choir, both of which earned Straight Distinguished ratings from every judge in both performance and sight reading at the Kentucky Music Educators Association District Choral Assessment. This is an incredible accomplishment that reflects the hard work, dedication, and musical excellence of our students.

Our orchestra program also delivered an extraordinary showing. PLD sent three orchestras to the University of Kentucky for performance assessment, with 130 students participating, and all three ensembles earned Distinguished ratings in every category from every judge. The Concert and Symphonic Orchestras even received several “Distinguished +” ratings—a testament to truly exceptional technique and musicianship.

We are incredibly proud of how our students represented Dunbar across choir and orchestra.

Mark your calendars: our Pops Concert is Friday, May 1st. This special event will feature band, orchestra, and choir all in one place, with nearly 300 students performing. If you’ve never attended, this is the perfect opportunity—you’re almost guaranteed to see one of your favorite students on stage.
